Atkins at their ward camp-out

On Friday night we met up with our ward for the ward camp-out. We had a camp site reserved just off the Mirror Lake highway. I was actually surprised to see so many families from the ward participate in this activity.

Friday night was complete with campfire singing and cheers. Our young women sang quite a few songs that they learned at girls camp. Our neighbor, Kate Grow, brought tons of musical instruments for all the crowd to participate in singing and nonsense. It was fun!
Our family was one of three chosen to stand up before the group and introduce our family and talk about who we are and what we like to do. The Coon family was also chosen to do the same. I don't have a picture of our family doing a presentation but here is the Coon family.

Later that night, there were different groups of people sitting around talking. I met up and talked with a lady I went to high school with, Jennifer Griffin. We talked about high school memories and a few other things. It was good to find a new friend in the ward.
Haven and Kenny and a bunch of other people started singing Rock Band songs. To every one's surprise, Darrell Bangeter, an autistic kid in our ward, started belting out all the words to all the songs. Come to find out he is quite the expert Rock Band player. He drew a crowd and had every one's attention. It was awesome!

Saturday morning we woke up to a grill that didn't work and about 100+ people standing around waiting to be fed. As we would expect, Kenny and our neighbor Chris Dever stripped a part from a camping trailer and fixed the grill. Breakfast was served. We had french toast, hash browns, bacon and sausage. And one of the chefs was our one and only....Kenny!
